Competence Area 5 relates to identifying and solving technical problems when using digital devices, applications and environments, as well as recognising needs and selecting appropriate technological responses. It encompasses the creative, innovative and human-centred use of digital technologies for knowledge creation and for innovating processes and products. Competence Area 5 further includes recognising and closing one's own digital competence gaps as well as supporting others in their competence development. Finally, it encompasses recognising opportunities for improvements and innovations and the targeted use of digital technologies to create concrete benefit and value for people, organisations and society.

Solving technical problems

This is the partial competence 5.1 in the competence area “Problem-Solving, Innovation and Continuous Learning” of the Digital Competence Framework for Austria DigComp 3.0 AT.

Description

Identifying and solving technical problems when operating digital devices, applications and infrastructure and when using digital environments; from troubleshooting to solving more complex problems.


Identifying needs and technological responses

This is the partial competence 5.2 in the competence area “Problem-Solving, Innovation and Continuous Learning” of the Digital Competence Framework for Austria DigComp 3.0 AT.

Description

Recognising and identifying needs, and evaluating, selecting and using digital tools and possible technological responses to address them; adapting digital environments to personal needs (e.g. accessibility).


Using digital technologies creatively, innovatively and in a human-centred manner

This is the partial competence 5.3 in the competence area “Problem-Solving, Innovation and Continuous Learning” of the Digital Competence Framework for Austria DigComp 3.0 AT.

Description

Using digital tools and technologies for knowledge creation and for innovating processes and products, based on human needs, usage contexts and societal impacts. Engaging individually and collaboratively in thinking and design processes to understand, reflect on and solve conceptual problems and problem situations in digital environments in a human-centred way.


Identifying and closing digital competence gaps

This is the partial competence 5.4 in the competence area “Problem-Solving, Innovation and Continuous Learning” of the Digital Competence Framework for Austria DigComp 3.0 AT.

Description

Understanding where one's own digital competence needs to be improved or updated; supporting others in their digital competence development; seeking opportunities for self-development and keeping up with the digital evolution.


Recognising opportunities and creating value and benefit through digital technologies

This is the partial competence 5.5 in the competence area “Problem-Solving, Innovation and Continuous Learning” of the Digital Competence Framework for Austria DigComp 3.0 AT.

Description

Recognising opportunities for improvements, innovations or new approaches and purposefully using digital technologies to create concrete benefit or value for people, organisations or society. Reflecting on and further developing digital solutions with regard to purpose, added value, feasibility and impact.
