Engaging with the digital world and developing the ability to make judgements
This is the partial competence 0.4 in the competence Area 0 “Foundations, access and digital understanding” of the Digital Competence Framework for Austria DigComp 2.3 AT.
What is it about?
This competence area includes the ability to constantly engage with digitality and to develop the power of judgement concerning the digital transformation.
What does it mean in practice?
Digitally literate individuals can reflect and exchange on issues related to current and future employment, cooperation and competitiveness in a digital society. They face their participation as citizens and bear in mind the individual and personal freedom and human rights as well as sustainability and the common good. Thus, they develop a sense of judgement in dealing with the digital transformation.
Why is that important?
In the course of the digital transformation, we are constantly challenged by technical innovations both in our private and professional environment, which involves changing routines and scrutinising traditional roles and tasks. This requires a steady engagement in order to consciously and actively shape change and to continuously negotiate social values.
