Protecting your health by taking breaks from the screen
The competent handling of digital devices also involves the protection of one’s own health and well-being, for example by means of taking breaks from screens: If you have been staring into a screen for 50 minutes, it is recommended to take a ten-minute break. It is best to take the strain off your eyes by looking out of the window, making targeted eye movements and blinking consciously. Other ways to relieve your eyes are the use of the "night mode" or "dark mode" on devices such as laptops, PCs and smartphones. By this, the contrast or brightness is reduced and a blue light filter is used to protect the eyes. Looking at screens rigidly and for a long period of time might also cause muscle tensions. Therefore, it is advisable to relax the neck muscles during the screen breaks. The correct sitting position is also helpful, whereby the screen should not be placed too high or too low.
